This year Carers week runs on 10th-16th June and is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities. It helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support. Carers Week is led by Carers UK with the support of several other charities.

 

The theme for 2024 is '' Putting Carers on the Map''

 

Millions of people across the UK care, unpaid for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health condition or addiction cannot cope without their support. This week is a UK wide awareness campaign seeking to increase visibility for carers with decision makers, services, employers, communities and businesses. The new theme for 2024 aims to galvanize activity, to highlight the increasing pressures unpaid carers face and to highlight carers for recognition and support. This includes raising awareness about the challenges carers face which impact on their finances, employment, health and wellbeing.

In addition, we want to promote some local events which are being offered during carers week.
