Bike for a bite - Bike Week, 6th-12th June, 2022

Bike Week.png

What is “Bike for a Bite” and how can you take part?

To celebrate Bike Week (6th-12th June), we are giving away food and drink gift vouchers as a reward to NHS Grampian staff who cycle to work at any point during bike week. Make sure to get your bike out of the shed and ready for action in time for Bike Week. Pedal to work at least one day of the week and send us a photo of you in action or once you’ve arrived at work or even your Strava map to gram.activetravel@nhs.scot. PParticipating staff who work at Foresterhill Health Campus, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Woodend Hospital and Dr Gray’s Hospital will be rewarded with a voucher to spend on site for a drink and a sandwich, cake or piece of fruit. Staff who work at other sites or from home can still take part but instead of a food voucher, they will be entered into a prize draw for a £20 bike shop voucher. Remember to state where you work when you submit your photo entry. Please read the full T&Cs below before taking part.

Getting ready for Bike Week:

If you want to take part in Bike Week but your bike needs a service before then, you can request a free bike service up to the value of £50 through the Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme (closing on 31st May 2022). Check here to see where the nearest participating bike store is near you. If you don’t yet have a bike but you are wondering where to start, you may be able to purchase one through the Cycle2Work scheme, which is a salary sacrifice scheme that allows you to spread the payment over 12 months without paying tax or national insurance on your purchase. Check the staff intranet for more information or email Active Travel Officer, Katrina at Katrina.Schofield@nhs.scot for a copy of the leaflet and FAQs. For any other support or queries related to cycling to or for work, Katrina will be happy to help.

Full Terms and Conditions for “Bike for a bite” scheme:

  1. Vouchers will be issued to any member of NHS Grampian staff who works at a participating site and submits a photo to gram.activetravel@nhs.scot which evidences that they cycled to work at least once during Bike Week 2022, which is Monday 6th- Sunday 12th June 2022.
  2. The participating sites are: Foresterhill Health Campus, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Woodend Hospital and Dr Gray’s Hospital. Members of staff who work at other sites across NHS Grampian are welcome to participate but rather than be issued a voucher, these staff will be entered into a prize draw to win a bike shop voucher valued at £20.
  3. Only one voucher can be claimed per person.
  4. Vouchers can only be redeemed once.
  5. A maximum of 100 vouchers will be issued during Bike Week 2022. If more than 100 NHS Grampian staff take part, any staff who submit a photo beyond 100 submissions will be entered into a prize draw to win a bike shop voucher valued at £20.
  6. Vouchers will be accepted at any of the following cafés: Aroma Cairngorm - Main Entrance Yellow Zone Level 2; Aroma Concourse - Main Entrance Yellow Zone Level 2; Aroma ECC - A&E Green Zone Level 0; Aroma Cart - Rotunda Entrance Orange Zone Level 1; Pink Zone Café; Orange Zone Café;  Royal Cornhill Café (non-Barista); Aroma Woodend; Dr Gray’s Café (non-Barista)
  7. Each voucher entitles the user to 1 x hot or cold drink and 1 x cake or sandwich or piece of fruit. Plant-based alternative milks and syrups will be included if the user chooses a hot drink.
  8. The voucher cannot be split of exchanged for alternative items or cash. For example, if the user only wants to use the voucher for a drink only, they cannot use the voucher at another time to claim a sandwich and they cannot claim monetary change. The voucher will be invalid after one use.
  9. If the user wishes to buy more than the voucher allows, they must pay for this themselves in a separate transaction.
  10. Vouchers will be valid from the date of issue until the cafés listed in item 5 close for service on Sunday 19th June 2022.
  11. All drinks, sandwiches and cakes are subject to availability. Exchanges for alternative items are not allowed. If the café where the user attempts to redeem the voucher runs out of sandwiches, drinks or cakes, the user may attempt to use the voucher on another day, so long as the voucher is valid, or at another café listed in item 5.
  12. The active travel email inbox is not monitored over the weekend so any photo entries submitted during the weekend (11th-12th June) will be picked up on Monday 13th June and vouchers will be issued then, subject to availability.
