Who May Access Coaching At Work

Any member of staff may apply for coaching. As coaching takes place during the applicant’s normal working hours, applications for coaching must be supported by the applicant’s line manager.

The eligibility criteria considered when coaching is requested include:

  • new appointment, promotion or redeployment;
  • career development / transition;
  • recently having been given more responsibility within current role;
  • involved in leading staff through change / service reviews / organisational change;
  • identified need to increase effectiveness in relation to role and leadership of people;
  • identified need to improve working relationships;

Coaching is generally not suited, nor available, to individuals involved in active employee relations or role performance issues or those who are not currently in the workplace. However, where relevant, coaching may be considered as a supportive way forward once any formal process is deemed complete and / or the individual has returned to work.
